We take social, psychological and physical safety very seriously. We believe it is important that anyone with questions, doubts, comments or complaints can talk to someone about this. We have appointed two confidential contacts (nl: vertrouwens contact persoon, VCP), male and female, for this purpose. Our confidential contacts are there for anyone associated with Steelbound who wants to say something about anything that has to do with transgressive behavior.
For example, bullying, discrimination, (sexual) harassment, threats, violence, exploitation or informal hierarchies are undesirable behavior. You may have experienced undesirable behavior yourself, but you may also see it happen to someone else. Even then, for example as a teacher, student, volunteer, or spectator, we ask you to contact our confidential contact person. In case of suspicion of sexual harassment, teachers are even obliged to do so.
The confidential contact will handle your story with care. They:
– listen with care and attention;
– discuss with you the next steps to help you.

Saskia Wilpshaar

Fabio Luelmo
What you discuss with the confidential contact is private, but sometimes they may have to deviate from this:
For example, when you tell them that you are involved in a serious criminal offence or when other members are in danger. The confidential contact must then inform the board about this.
Saskia and Fabio can be approached at any Steelbound event or emailed by anyone who has involvement with Steelbound; students and volunteers can also contact them privately via Whatsapp or phone. They have received the relevant training from the NOC-NSF via Werken aan Sportstad Den Haag (WSDH).
The confidential contact is, just like any other resident of the Netherlands, obligated to report serious crimes to the police. If you wish to speak with a confidential contact in the H.E.M.A. community which is not part of Steelbound, you can find the H.E.M.A.-bond confidential contact here.
In case of suspicion of sexual intimidation, everyone involved with Steelbound has the responsibility to report to the Centre for Safe Sport Netherlands (Centrum Veilig Sport Nederlands, CVSN).
